About Captions Cut

Captions Cut is a captions app for short videos, made by one independent developer, Uğur Altıntaş, in Türkiye. It is not connected to CapCut, ByteDance or the Captions app.

Who makes it

Uğur Altıntaş designs, builds and supports Captions Cut alone: the iPhone app, the web editor and this site. Support email is answered by the same person who writes the code.

The first version reached the App Store on 8 October 2026, listed as “Captions Cut: Auto Subtitles”. The web editor at captionscut.com/edit followed on 19 October 2026. Every release is listed on What’s new.

What Captions Cut does, and what it does not

It does one job: it turns the speech in a clip into word-by-word animated captions, in 53 spoken languages, with a transcript you can correct, 48 styles and export in 1080p or 4K. The video stays on your device; only the audio track is uploaded for transcription and deleted right after.

It does not cut video, add music or effects, dub voices or make avatars. When another tool is the better choice for something, the comparisons say so.

How this site is written

  • One author. The help center, guides and comparisons are written by Uğur Altıntaş, the maker of Captions Cut. Every guide and comparison says so on the page, because a list written by one of the products on it should be read with that in mind.
  • Other products, from their own pages. Facts about other apps come from their public websites and App Store pages, with the date they were checked. Prices and plans change; the date tells you how old a figure is, and the link takes you to the current one.
  • AI as a tool, not an author. AI helps draft and translate pages. The other language versions of this site are translated with AI from the English pages, which are the reference: where a translation and the English page disagree, the English page is right. Numbers about Captions Cut come from the app itself.
  • No paid placements. Nobody pays to be listed or ranked, and there are no affiliate links.
  • Last revised on .
