Caption app prices, compared

The short answer

Most caption tools are subscriptions: the cheapest paid tiers here run from about $8 a month billed yearly (Zeemo Pro) to $25 a month (VEED Creator, monthly). Free tiers either watermark the export or cap minutes or videos. Captions Cut is the one that charges per second of audio instead, from $2.99 for 30 minutes that never expire, and the one that does not upload the video.

Say you post ten clips a month, each 45 seconds long: 450 seconds of speech.

  • Captions Cut: 450 credits. The 30 minutes pack (1,800 credits, $2.99) covers four such months, and unused credits never expire.
  • Submagic: Starter, $19 a month or $12 a month billed yearly, covers 15 videos a month.
  • VEED: the free tier’s 10 minutes of subtitles cover the speech, with a watermark and 720p; Creator is $25 a month, or $12.25 a month billed yearly.
  • Kapwing: the free tier subtitles up to 10 minutes, with a watermark; Pro is $16 a month billed yearly.
  • CapCut and Edits: free to start; CapCut’s paid tiers in the US App Store begin at $9.99 a month.

Posting every day turns the sums around: at thirty 45-second clips a month, a subscription with no per-video charge can cost less than credits. Count your own seconds.

Where a page gave both, the monthly price and the yearly price per month are shown. Where a tool’s web prices are shown only in local currency (CapCut), the US App Store prices are used and the page says so.
