Web editor

Which browsers work, what is uploaded, where web projects live, and how to sign in or delete your account.

Which browsers work with the web editor?

A current version of Chrome, Edge or Safari, on a computer or a phone. Firefox can create captions but may not be able to export the video. Open captionscut.com/edit to start.

Does my video get uploaded?

No. The clip you choose stays in your browser. Like the app, the editor sends only the audio track for transcription and deletes it right after. The captioned video is rendered inside your browser and downloaded to your device. Exports on the free plan carry a small Captions Cut mark, as in the app.

Where are my projects?

In the browser you made them in, stored on that device. They don’t sync to other browsers or to the app. Clearing the site’s data in your browser settings removes them, so download your exports first.

How do I sign in, switch accounts or delete my account?

Open Account and sign in with Apple or Google. Credits and Pro bought in the app appear on the web once you sign in with the same identity; buying on the web is coming later. If the identity already belongs to another Captions Cut account, the editor asks whether to switch to it; if you agree, your anonymous credits move to that account.

To delete your account, use the delete option on the same page, or in the app under Settings > Account. This deletes your server-side data for good: caption history, credit balance and purchase records, and your sign-in. Projects on your device or in your browser stay where they are. An App Store subscription is managed by Apple; cancel it under Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions.

Still need help?

Email us and we’ll get back to you. It helps to include your iPhone model, iOS version and the app version, which is shown at the bottom of Settings in the app.
