What happens to your video and its audio, what is kept, and how to delete your data.
What happens to my video?
It stays on your iPhone. When you create captions, the app extracts only the audio track on your device and uploads it for transcription. The audio file is deleted as soon as transcription finishes, whether it succeeds or fails.
What do you keep?
- A copy of your captions on our servers for up to 7 days, so we can help if something goes wrong.
- Your purchases and credit balance.
The sound of your video is deleted as soon as the captions are made. There are no ads, and no tracking unless you allow it when iOS asks. Anonymous usage data helps us improve the App; it never includes your videos or captions. Read the full Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting the app removes your projects from your iPhone; clearing the site’s data in your browser removes your web editor projects. If you signed in, delete your account in the app under Settings > Account or on the site under Account, which removes everything we hold about you. Otherwise, email privacy@captionscut.com; the Privacy Policy explains what to include so we can find your records.
